MARKET TUTORIAL
Don’t miss our helpful shopping hints now posted as a link at the top of every web page on St. Pete Locally Grown. Check it out and then share it with anyone who asks about us!

Satisfaction Guaranteed

Our Market has high standards for what it sells. Despite that—as seasons transition—the challenges of evolving weather and pesky insects can take its toll on the crops. Market Growers are being very selective about what they are willing to present to you. No, it won’t always be picture perfect (which is part of its charm) and sometimes an insect is going to evade capture! But we won’t send you anything that we wouldn’t eat ourselves. If for any reason we have goofed and you are dissatisfied, please report it to me right away so we can rectify the situation. That’s how we get better and we all benefit from that. Your satisfaction is key to our success as a resource for St. Petersburgs’ lovers of chemical-free, organically & locally grown vegetables.

Message from Your Market Manager

HI FOLKS:
If you missed Sunday’s email about our summer hours which go into effect THIS WEEK then please read this webpost. We would like to hear from you about any concerns you have that will keep you from ordering every other week. We want to address each concern so that we may mutually support one another.

FEATURED FRUIT THIS WEEK ==>peaches and plums

UPDATE ON GROWERS
Keen Green has wonderful seedlings online this week. However, they have no micros this week as they had to “wipe the slate clean and start over”.
The Faith House is taking a break this summer and we expect them to be back in the fall.
We have a few local urban farmers “in the wings” just waiting for their produce to be ready.
Every summer is a new adventure for St. Pete Locally Grown!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our volunteer opportunities remain the same this summer and we have lost a few valuable resources recently. We are recruiting new folks to serve the St. Petersburg Community from 2 to 4 hours “per Market week” on Wednesdays thru Fridays. We will train and we promise you will have fun! Please call or email me if you want to meet some fabulous, like-minded people!

NEW CO-OP St. Pete Locally Grown is now delivering to the Broadwater Neighborhood in the vicinity of 45th Ave. S. & 35th Way S. Delivery fee is $4. Just submit a comment with your order and we’ll send you the details for picking up there on Friday.

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.

Princeton Farm Fresh:  The Market is Open

What a wonderful 4th of July weekend we had!! We couldn’t have asked for better weather. I enjoyed making our festivities with delicious local food.
Looks like more wonderful weather this week, and I am looking forward to more tomatoes ripening in the garden.
We are in the planning stages, but next Friday the 18th we will have a small celebration, where you can eat local foods and meet your farmers. I hope you will join us next week.
Until then, enjoy the weather and local foods. See you Friday,
Angela

Northeast Georgia Locally Grown:  Locally Grown - Availability for July 9, 2014

Hey Local Food Lovers,

Welcome back from the 4th of July! Hope you had a tremendous holiday. The weather could not have been better.

Summer’s bounty is rolling in. Mountain Earth has blueberries this week! All kinds of beans are rolling in from Promise Land, Wild Earth Gardens, Liberty Farms, Oakcrest, and Taylor Creek. If you’re a bean lover try two from different farms. Also cukes and tomatoes and basil are here which means the summers best salad is ready to be made. If you haven’t peeled and seeded a cuke, diced a tomato and shredded basil and mixed in a bowl with balsamic then you haven’t had the most refreshing salad you can eat.

Lots of eggs this week so order extra. The dewberry/blackberries from Hill Manor were awesome last week. Only 3 left as of this writing. Let’s leave ‘em with 0. Garlic galore is coming on from Promise Land, Leah Lake and Mill Gap. The first of peppers started last week and there are more varieties this week.Taylor Creek’s purple islander pepper is a beauty. There are over 400 products this week. That may be a record.

Last week was also our highest sales week of all-time. Thanks to everyone who is digging in this summer to make Locally Grown a staple part of your diet. We think the FARM TOUR promotions probably helped drive sales up a bit. We’re inching closer and closer to $2k in sales each week. If we could do that every week of the year (since we’re a year-round market) that’d be $100k a year. That’s a decent chunk of local economy.

Thanks again for supporting the FARM TOUR a week ago. We have two things to share with you to help us wrap up this great event.

The first is a request for all FARM TOUR ATTENDEES to take our quick SURVEY! This really helps us brainstorm new ideas to make the tour better each year. Hopefully you’ve seen some of your comments reflected in the tour over the years.

If you came to the TOUR just click on this link. The survey should take only 1-3 mins.

FARM TOUR SURVEY
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2014_FARM_TOUR

As a reward for attending the event (and taking the survey) we want you to enjoy this year’s FARM TOUR VIDEO. Andrew Linker created this work of art that really captures the spirit of our collaboration amongst farmers throughout the mountains to produce local food, in the case of Locally Grown…distribute local food, and in the case of the FARM TOUR promote local food.

Even if you didn’t attend we think this video will inspire you.

HUGE THANKS to all the FARMERS whose hardwork produces the great food and the great culture we all get to enjoy.

EAT WELL,

Justin in Habersham
Chuck in Rabun
and Teri and Andrew too!
