Joyful Noise Acres Farm: The Market is open for ordering.
Good morning and Happy Fall. The cool weather welcomed my 2nd pot of soup this week. Ham and bean with loads of vegetables just fit our schedule and appetites. A side of fresh tortillas from Farm Fresh Foods set it off perfectly.
Farm Fresh brought corn tortillas and Jackie’s Friendly Baking experimented with wheat tortillas this week on the sample table. They were both delicious and will hopefully be on the market soon. For those that did not stop by, the sample table was brimming with deliciousness! For those that did, what was your favorite? Thank you to those that requested tortillas, we always welcome your suggestions.
Sissy’s Farm Fresh Eggs is out of production right now. The new hens have not started laying but we have found eggs from another source that grows them just like we do. They free range during the day and get a non-GMO feed. We will only have about 12 dozen a week so keep that in mind when you stop by.
Conscious Cultures will restock the market next week. He has been super busy furthering his education and has not had time to make more kefir and kombucha but watch the market for his update.
Snack n Joy is a new vendor that specializes in gluten free baking. She uses a wonderful blend of millet, amaranth and buckwheat to achieve the flour for her pastries. We sampled them Wednesday and everything was wonderful. She will get her products added over the next day or so so watch for her items in the Bakery Section, gluten free.
The farmers have plenty to offer this week and so do the producers of wonderful finished products. The refrigerator has loads of cheese and butter is in the freezer. Meats are plentiful and vegetables are fresh. We hope you can find most of your grocery needs here. Please let us know what you would like added to the market … if you don’t shop local, what is a small farmer to do? So, thank you for supporting locally grown.

Local Farms First: The Market is Open!
Greetings Local Farms First Food Lovers,
There’s nothing like some 45 degree rain to get you in the mood for a warm bowl of soup. I certainly found myself craving some this rainy, snowy week. Take a look at the many varieties of carrots on the market and try some carrot ginger soup..
Our growers offer some beautiful, multi-color varieties of carrots that will make a delicious addition to carrot ginger soup, or anything else!
Thanks for supporting local family farms,
Erin Griffin- Market Manager

CSA Farmers Market: Lamb Burger
}Recipe submitted by Debra Lyman%
Ever crave a burger? Why not a lamb burger with the ingredients from the farm wonderful mint, and onions from White Pine Farm, the lamb from BF&E Organics (it is a very mild lamb). These all make a great lamb burger its been a big hit with our family (it is listed in the recipe section of this site) Try one and enjoy…We really enjoy them. Thank you so much for providing yet another wonderful meal for us.
Herbed Lamb Burgers
(serves 4)
1 lb. ground lamb
2/3 cup finely chopped fresh mint
2/3 cup finely chopped parsley
1 zest from whole lemon
2 Tbsp. grated sweet onion
1 tsp Kosher salt
ground pepper
Combine lamb with mint, parsley, zest, onion, salt pepper in bowl. Mix gently until combined. Divide mixture into 4 equal balls, flatten into patties and make a an indentation in the center of each with your thumb, to keep burgers from doming while cooking. (cover and refrigerate up to 1 day). If planning on grilling on grill brush with olive oil before putting in refrigerator. Grill over med heat 10-15 min total flipping patties once (for medium thermometer should read 160 degrees) You may also cook in skillet in the house but do not put olive oil as they will produce enough grease themselves.
Option: you can grill some onion to put on top of your burgers, add crumbled feta cheese before putting in a bun.
