Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  JNA Farm Market is open for ordering.

Another beautiful day today… a few years ago I took my father-in-love to the doctor. He was beginning stages of dementia and the doctor was doing a cognitive awareness test on him. He was not having a good day and could not remember many details; date, year, president, that sort of thing. The last question asked of him was to write a sentence, any sentence. He wrote, ‘I love this beautiful earth’. There are some things we never forget.

We are so excited to see the market offerings growing weekly. We are currently talking to a farm about offering their cheeses on the market. I am ordering a variety so that we can sample them. It may have to be a group buy item versus having it on the market weekly but we will see how you like the cheese and go from there.

Chicken – *Joyful Noise Acres Farm *will have a limited amount of chicken available on Wednesday, these will be whole birds, no cuts yet. You can reserve the number of chickens you want, maximum of 3 per family.

We have a great variety of vegetables available again this week, our farmers have been so busy. They have a bounty of herbs also. The best way to preserve your herbs is to chop them, fill ice cube trays with the herbs then pour olive oil over them. They will freeze but it is a soft freeze and then transfer them to a baggie and keep frozen. It will be easy to add a cube at a time to sauces, soups, etc. and you don’t loose the fresh flavor of the herbs.

At the end of the week, when you have a few extra veggies, salad leaves and what nots, toss them all in olive oil and a splash of Home Appetit Dark Balsamic Vinegar and roast them. This is great for eating now or puree the roasted veggies and freeze them to add to sauces and soups or meat loaf. We don’t want any of the goodness to go to waste.

We want to share what we do with everyone because we want everyone to eat good, clean food. For the month of June, if you refer someone to the market and they join, we are offering a $5 credit to you. Be sure to tell them to give us your name when they join.

Off to the market with you… see you Wednesday.
