Northeast Georgia Locally Grown:  Northeast Georgia Locallygrown Availability list for June 20

Hi Locavores,
What a busy time of the year. Almost everybody we see at the market seems to have a lot going on.
Several of your local farms including Amy and I here at Mill Gap are racing the clock to get caught up and prepare for the Georgia Mountains Farm Tour next weekend.
Amy is still in the field right now picking vegetable for SimplyHomegrown Market in Clayton tomorrow.
I have to get back there right now or else.
Have a great weekend and enjoy local, fresh, healthy food.

Suwanee Whole Life Co-op:  Tortillas & Blueberry Oat Muffins from My Daily Bread

Hi Members,

This didn’t make it into the newsletter in time but wanted you all to know. Dabrielle & Bruce from My Daily Bread will be out of town next week for her Uncles’s 90th birthday in Wisconsin.

They are leaving the bakery in capable hands if their two bakers, however, there are items specific to Dabrielle that will NOT be available – Spelt Tortillas and Blueberry Oat Muffins.

Please considering ordering extra Tortillas and/or Blueberry Oat Muffins this week and freeze. They freeze very well!

I know many of your order those 2 items weekly and didn’t want you to not have them the following week.

All other My Daily Bread items will be available this week. The following week, all items except Tortillas and Blueberry oat muffins will be available to order.

Thanks so much,

Nora & My Daily Bread

Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  The JNA Farm market is open for ordering.

Good morning, good morning!

At Joyful Noise Acres Farm, the next batch of baby chicks are here and the teenagers in the front yard have moved (yea!) to the pasture. Our vegetable farmers are in the thick of growing and that means weeds. Please contact them if you would like to volunteer to lend a hand, intern or work for food. Sunshine and dirt are the best relaxation I know of.

We are so excited about this week at the market. Chrystal Cantrell is going to be helping me with the market. She will be working with the orders, making sure you see all the wonderful samples and extras that are offered and keeping things moving in general.

Speaking of extras, we have another table now that is stocked with many of the extras our farmers and cooks have made. These items are for sale so make sure to grab a goodie or two. This is where samples will be also. This past week we sampled Diabetic Friendly Baking English Muffins, ‘Swamp Honey’ from Paul Foster Apiary and Spicy Carrot hummus from Farm Fresh Foods. The hard part of working the market is not eating all the samples. We had quite a few extra vegetables and baked items for sale. In all the busy, I didn’t have the cheese out to sample but will make sure I do this week.

Now off to the market, the freezers are full of chicken, pork and beef. The eggs are in abundance, the vegetables are beautiful and the refrigerator is full of good things from the kitchens. Grab your grocery list and start shopping or start shopping and then decide what to make this week. Either way, you will not be disappointed – and if you are, you let us know.

We love growing for you and look forward to seeing you Wednesday.
Blessings,
Mary Beth

Champaign, OH:  Goin' Down The Road

Goin’ where the climate suits my clothes…goin’ where the water tastes like wine…(Grateful Dead…Goin’ Down The Road Feeling Bad)

Well, another market closed out the week, tonight! I am about to open up the new market in just a few seconds!

Thank you to all of the lovely customers, tonight, my lovely volunteers, my lovely vendors. The kind hearts, the helping hands, the smiling faces. Because of the combined efforts of everyone, we have succeeded in keeping the market steady, with high numbers, and climbing!

We welcome the new customers who find us, weekly. We welcome our loyal customers who have been with us, week in and week out. We appreciate you so very, very much…

This is the time of the summer, or almost summer, that my wanderlust begins to pull me and my thoughts in a million directions. Picking up and goin’ down the road is how I always feel in this month of June. Take me to the beach, take me to the mountains, take me to a festival…just pack up, head out, no particular plan, just lots of laughs, lots of fun, lots of no responsibilities…

But, then I am snapped back into reality, realize that people depend on me, in so many different venues, and so it goes. My wanderlust remains in my heart, in my soul, and I set about getting ready for the next day, the next market, the next venue. And, you know what helps?? Each and every one of you and your kindness and your spirit! The love that this market feels from each of you is explosive and dynamic!! You all make this hippie girl with the wanderlust in her soul happy to just stay grounded. You give this market the energy and vibe that makes it all so great!!

Hugs to all of us as we begin these summer months with busy markets, busy venues, and this market. Our love and our commitment doesn’t fade and it’s all because of you!

Tonight, as I open the market, I would like to remind you of the fun filled day that End Of The Road Farm has in store for all of us on Sunday!! They are excited to welcome us, it will be like a mini trip for this wanderlust girl, and it will be such fun to gather with all of you to enjoy all that they want to share with us!!

I am asking that if you know for sure that you are going, to please email me so I can give them a head count!! Thank you so much!! I know I am excited!!

Also, we welcome and new lettuce, greens, produce provider! Say hello to Kevin of Davidson Farms!!! Super great products, super excited guy, super nice guy!! Let’s all give him a huge round of market love!

We will also welcome a new vendor, tomorrow…Grace Grows Green!! Carrie comes out of Springfield via the Springfield Farmer’s Market! Granola bars, chia bars, and more!!

It seems we are now adding new vendors, weekly! Get to know the new vendors, hug the vendors who you know and trust and love!!

Get out, go down the road, show some love and start the market, again, with us!!

We look forward to your orders!! Don’t forget…each week is a chance to become a winner of the Market Love playlist cd!

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam
