Farmer At Your Door: Market is Open and a Contest!
The market is open! Place your orders until 7 pm Tuesday evening.Contest!
Southcentral Wisconsin Regional Harvest is a mouthfull, so we decided to have a little contest to come up with a new name for our on-line farmer’s market. The new name should reference Southern Wisconsin, local food and delivery, but be catchy and shorter. E-mail your entries to email@example.com or find us on Facebook and post in a message or the comment section. Winner will be chosen by the Market Managers and will receive a $20 gift certificate to use on great local products of their choice from the market! You can enter as many times as you would like. Contest ends on Earth Day which is April 22nd. Looking forward to your creative ideas!

Risa and I will be attending the steering committee meeting for GetFit! Tullahoma on April 18th. Let us know if you have any ideas to support Mayor Curlees initiatives including greening up Tullahoma or ways to spread the word about events and organizations in the area.
I was rereading some journal entries today and it’s really sinking in – the abundance to look forward to this growing season. I’m especially looking forward to melons, cucumbers, and fresh basil. Let your farmers know what you love – that’s the only way you’ll ever see it on the market!
If you’ve been spreading the word about the good food available, team up with you friends and offer to pick their order up for them! We also offer delivery.
Market closes at , whats in your fridge, freezer, breadbox, pantry, soap dish, or garden?

Cedar Grove Farm: Cedar Grove Farm 2013 Summer CSA Season
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The weather has not cooperated much these past couple weeks. We’ve had a bunch of hard frosts and cold windy days out here on the farm. However, the woods that surround us always renew my confidence at this time of the year as they begin to wake-up with the first flowering of the red bud, elm and maple trees. We are probably a week or so behind Athens – it seems to get and stay colder longer out here in the boondocks.
Our transplants are struggling but they are hanging on. I’m pretty sure they will rebound and start thriving once the warmer spring weather takes hold. BTW, in spite of the weather, we did get almost 1200 feet of potatoes – German Butterball, Sangre Round Red and Yukon Gold – plus the first 200 tomato plants in the ground.
The CSA will not be open again this week, and this is officially the end of the Winter CSA season. If you are receiving this message you have either sent in part or all of your payment for the Summer CSA or you are still on the active list until the day after tomorrow. If you want to continue please be sure and send in at least an installment to continue your membership this summer. We are really excited about the harvest this year and have plenty of available slots still open. Remember, with the flexibility of Cedar Grove Farm – Locally Grown, if you don’t want to order from the available produce, you can save your balance and order more when your favorites start coming in.
We will be at the Athens Farmers Market Opening Day at Bishop Park this coming Saturday, April 6, and then the following Wednesday, April 10, we will have the first Downtown Athens Farmers Market and Cedar Grove Farm Summer CSA pickup of 2013. Come by and see us. We sure are looking forward to being back at the Market again.
Best regards, Farmer Jay
