Suwanee Whole Life Co-op:  News: New Items & Coffee Order

Bulk Coffee Order this weekend
This weekend we will have our monthly bulk order with Carrboro Coffee. Carrboro Coffee provides the co-op with freshly roasted whole bean coffees. These artisan roasters know their coffee growers personally. These are small lot coffees and the beans are bought directly from their farmers at a fair price. Because these are small lots, it is very comparable to our family farms here in Georgia. Most of these farmers cannot afford the organic certification even though they use organic methods. We will be taking pre-orders on the website for the coffee this weekend and place our order on Monday. After they receive our order Carrboro Coffee Company will roast our beans on Thursday then ship to us and we will have them by Feb 19th pickup.

New Items:
B&G Farms:Ham Roasts (3-4lbs)
Fresh Sliced Pork Belly- Many of you have requested bacon that is GAPS diet friendly(Gut and Psychology Syndrome)and here it is! Pork Belly is the same cut as bacon but this product contains no sugar or anything else. You can add your own unrefined sea salt and fry just like regular bacon.

Mountain Fresh Creamery:
Fresh Cream that is low temp pasteurized sold in gallon jugs and pints

Butter made from their cream and lightly salted

Alta Cucina:
Seasoning Salts- variety of season salts made from sea salt and various Italian herbs and seasonings

I hope all of you that picked up this past Tuesday enjoyed the free sample of Alta Cucina Artichoke Lemon Pesto. They would love to hear your feedback! You can email them at info@altacucinaitalia.com

Look for these and other healthy items on the market website on Friday. Please place your orders before Sunday at 5pm.

Thank you for your support,
Nora

February 7th, 2013 – The Market Keeps Growing!

Dear market customer,

The market keeps growing as we approach springtime. Last week’s highlights were the produce boxes and Johnton’s dairy products, which are also available this week.

As we announced last week, we now take online credit card payments. The system works beautifully and we’re glad to add this new perk as a service to you to make it easier for you to pay online if you choose to. We also take cash and checks as usual.

Help Us Serve You Better – Take the Survey

Here at Gwinnett Locally Grown we are committed to providing you with the absolutely best customer experience and fairly priced top quality products.

Please help us improve The Market by taking this short 3-minute survey and telling us your thoughts. We promise to read every single reply and work diligently to make necessary improvements.

After you take the survey, be sure to come back to The Market and place your order!

Produce Boxes Are a Hit!

This product was a top seller last week, and I am sure this week it will be too!

Containing all Certified Organic fresh fruits and vegetables, the produce boxes are filled with goodness. Choose from two sizes: Small or Large.

Some of the variety produce you will get:

The first produce box order will be ready for you to pick up February 22nd, and all orders must be in and PAID by February 18th.

Due to the logistics of the ordering process, payment on pick-up is not available for this first order of produce boxes. We must receive your payment for the boxes ASAP either online, when you place the order, or via snail mail with a check.

Please pay for your produce boxes as soon as you order them online or mail a check ASAP to Rancho Alegre Farm at 2225 Givens Road, Dacula, GA 30019. We must have payment in by Feb. 18th in order to secure your box.You will absolutely love the variety and quality you will get!

Click here and order you produce box now!

* Although our normal pick-up day for the market is Tuesday, PICK-UPS for the produce boxes will be Friday. Produce boxes will be picked up bi-weekly, and as it grows to weekly, we will add the option to pick up on Tuesday.

Featured Producer: Living Towers!

"Living Towers is home to a 2,200 square foot, state-of-the- art greenhouse that produces “beyond organic” lettuces, herbs, and vegetables. We are open from 10am – 6pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The produce we grow and a variety of seedlings (see www.livingtowerseedlings.com for details) are always available. Group tours are also available outside of these hours. Please contact us for more information or to book a tour.

Living Towers was established in October 2010 by Dr Jan Young ND. Jan’s small idea soon became a large project, as more and more families became aware of the importance of locally grown foods and knowing the source of those foods. The business is now run by Jan, her son Jason and her daughter-in-law Dee. In October 2012, just two years after Living Towers opened, construction began on the second greenhouse.

Living Towers is also a prototype of the future in community and family food production and consumption. Our food is produced “Clean and Green” using rainwater collection and solar energy, creating the smallest possible ecological footprint. Here we grow over 5000 plants in a 2,200 square foot greenhouse. Grow these crops on the ground and you would use between a third and half an acre!

We use a water based growing system (Hydroponic) that creates its own highly oxygenated environment (Aeroponic) for the plant roots. Our plants are grown vertically, using the latest “Tower Garden” (link to Tower Garden Page) technology and a proprietary Tower Tonic plant food. Our wide range of ionic earth based minerals and plant nutrients allow us to grow strong, healthy, nutrient dense produce essential to vibrant human health.

At Living Towers, we blend Nature with Technology, producing foods that “Nourish the Human Body and Spirit”.

We service our local community by selling produce direct from our farm, along with supplying organic co-ops and food banks. Our goals include promoting buying local organic food, as well as the sustainable living movement. We accomplish this by teaching family growing, community gardening, and commercial production through tours and seminars. Eating good quality food doesn’t have to cost the earth, nor have a negative impact on the earth.

Items available from Living Towers:

Fresh Herbs

Kale and Lettuce
